ABOUT
THE
SHOW

The musical is an adaptation of The Realabilities Educational Comic Book Curriculum, a 10 comic-book series created by Dr. Nava Silton from 2010-2016, with the help of students from Marymount Manhattan College. In 2016, Nava met composer/lyricist Bonnie Gleicher and the musical Addy & Uno was born. By the end of 2016, the show was produced at Marymount Manhattan College. In 2017, it was featured in the ReelAbilities NY Disabilities Film Festival and that September it made its debut as a full production at the Theater at the 14th St. Y.

Both the curriculum and musical have been proven to positively change kids' attitudes toward individuals with disabilities. In a pre-and post-show study performed on the students who saw the musical, the results showed significantly positive changes in knowledge, attitudes and intentions toward kids with disabilities, and a deeper understanding of bullying and its repercussions. Plus, 90% of the kids reported wanting to see the show again.
